Despite the small absence of new news and the doubts arising from the abandonment of the Surface Neo project, it seems that the Redmond giant will finally return to the smartphone sector with the new Surface Duo, an Android terminal that takes up the old concept of the double screen focused on directly competing with the new trend of folding devices.
So much so that according to the latest rumors published by Zac Bowden of Windows Central, contrary to the plans that the company shared during the last year, this phone will be launched earlier than planned, anticipating its date to the presentation of the new Samsung models.
In this way, and taking into account that the Galaxy Fold 2 aims to be announced together with the new Galaxy Note 20 at the next Unpacked 2020 event on August 5, we would be less than two months to know the new bet of Microsoft. And it is that as we have been able to know, the Surface Duo seems to be already complete.
Microsoft Surface Duo Specifications:
software: Android 10 with Microsoft Launcher
screen: Dual configuration with 5.6-inch AMOLED displays and a resolution of 1,800 x 1,350 pixels
Processor: Snapdragon 855 with Kryo eight-core CPU
GPU: Qualcomm Adreno 640
Memory: 6 GB of RAM
Storage: 64GB and 256GB
Camera: 11 MP ƒ / 2.0 and 1.12um
Drums: 3,460 mAh with USB-C fast charge
Others– Fingerprint reader and Surface Pen stylus holder
The great unknown would now be in the hands of the not yet transcended launch price, which, based on the internal components and its dual-display AMOLED configuration, aims to not be precisely economic and reach an approximate price between 1,200 and 1,500 euros. However, it should be borne in mind that Samsung has already announced that its next folding smartphone will come along with a notable reduction in its price, so if Microsoft really seeks to be competitive, we could still see some surprise regarding these figures.
That said, even in the event that this early announcement of the Surface Duo is finally made, doesn’t mean the phone launches right away. In fact, the same leak suggests that it could be at least two more months before it is actually available, thus bringing us closer to the first official date, and in the last months of the year.
