The ‘streaming’ music service Spotify has begun to test in a limited but comprehensive way the video cast podcast ’function that accompanies traditional audio broadcasts in its application.

Spotify ‘videopodcasts’ are currently a test, and the application does not visually indicate which episodes have video, but the video appears directly when starting to play them.

For this test, the new video podcasts will only be present in the program ‘Zane and Heath: Unfiltered’, presented by the ‘youtubers’ Zane Hijazi and Heath Hussar, and only for 50 percent of their followers and for episodes 28 to 30, as reported by the portal The Verge.

When available, the video is displayed at the bottom of the screen, but users can also choose to view it in full screen. Videos continue to play even when locking the mobile screen. Also, regular Spotify audio ads keep playing, during which the video stops.

The ‘videopodcasts’ are available only in the language in which the presenters record them, as Spotify has indicated that it will not translate them for a global audience.
