Pixel Buds 2 is Google’s new bet for the high-end smart headphones, a segment that is gaining presence in the large group of wearables and will do even more with the news from Samsung, Galaxy Beans, and Microsoft with the Surface Earbuds that we expect as soon as next week.
The Pixel Buds 2 were presented at the Made by Google 2019 event in October, so they hit the market quite a bit later, although Google already announced that they would not be available until this year. They are the second generation of these own brand headphones, which are now truly wirelessAs the manufacturer has removed the cable between the earbuds featured by the original 2017 model.
Its design has also been modified to what Google calls an “intricate origami”, while the carrying and charging case is egg-shaped. They offer up five hours continuous duration on a single charge and up to 24 hours of battery life with the box.
Google promises that the headphones’ long-range Bluetooth connection makes them usable even when we don’t have a mobile. Inside, they can be connected up to three rooms away and outdoors at a distance of an american football field.
As expected, the new Buds present a full integration with Google Assistant, allowing you hands-free access, without having to resort to the smartphone where they connect. The live translation feature of the original has also been improved.
The headphones automatically detect when they’re in the user’s ear and have touch controls to play, pause and adjust the volume. They are capable of detecting external noise and lowering / raising the volume automatically. They have IPX4 certification for resistance to sweat and water.
The headphones pair with a single touch with Pixel phones and other Android devices with version 6.0 or higher. They are also compatible with Apple iOS devices with Bluetooth 4.0 or higher. The Google Pixel Buds 2 are available in the United States from the Google Store and large retailers. Its official price is $ 179 and for starters they are only available in a white finish. Other colors and international launch are expected.
